Chinese FM to visit Islamabad, Kabul soon for mediation: Sartaj

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz has said that “China has expressed its keenness to intervene between Pakistan and Afghanistan for improving their bilateral ties”.

Talking to Voice of America (VOA), he said that “China will help the negotiations between the two neighbours.” The advisor said that China is ready to mediate for rapprochement between Pakistan and Afghanistan and for this purpose.

China’s foreign minister will undertake visits to Kabul and Islamabad in the current month.” He said that “The meeting between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Astana took place in friendly environment.”

“At the meeting, the two sides agreed that levelling allegations against each other will not work, therefore, they should work to do away with trust scarcity,” he said. Sartaj said that “As China wants good associations between Pakistan and Afghanistan so it is good option to occupy it.”

Sartaj said that “At the Astana meeting, it was agreed upon in principle that there is need for a mechanism for the redressed of each other’s concerns.” He hoped that, “Bilateral associations will improve after the recent meeting between Ashraf Ghani and Nawaz Sharif.”
