Eid-ul-Fitr predicted to be on the 26th of June

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, this year there is a great chance that Eid ul Fitr may be celebrated in the country on Monday, June 26. The moon that will mark the start of the month of Shawwal will most likely be sighted to Sunday, June 25 which will mark the 29th of Ramazan, 1438AH as told by a PMD official.

However a final and official announcement can only be released by the moon-sighting committee, under the Ministry of religious affairs. The MET office had previously correctly predicted the date of the Ramazan crescent.

Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, a prominent and controversial cleric from Peshawar’s Masjid Qasim announced the holy month of Ramazan a day before the entire nation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Although the Ministry of Religious Affairs made many efforts to get
Popalzai to cooperate with the government so that the month of Ramazan and Eid would be on the same day, these efforts have been unsuccessful till now.

Contrary to the dates set in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the federal government has already announced the holidays beginning Monday, June 26 to Wednesday, June 28.
