PML-N apprehensions shocked nation: Kaira

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said Thursday that the nation was upset over sudden apprehensions raised by the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) about the constitutional reforms.

Speaking to media outside the Parliament House here, he expressed the hope that PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif would reconsider his policy.

Kaira said that the constitutional reforms committee (CRC) had already reached a consensus on all the issues, including renaming of NWFP as Pakhtoonkhwa. The timing of the PML-N to raise objections on the proposed judicial commission was also surprising, he remarked.

The CRC would soon develop a consensus about the NWFP name also, he said, urging the political parties not to disappoint the nation.

To a question, the minister said that no compromise would be made regarding supremacy of the parliament.
