Gilani appreciates OIC’s support for resolving Kashmir dispute

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday appreciated Organisation of Islamic Conference’s (OIC) support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the realisation of their right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions. The PM was talking to OIC Secretary General Dr Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, who called on him at the PM House. Gilani welcomed the appointment of Ambassador Abdullah Al-Aleem as OIC secretary general’s special representative for Jammu and Kashmir. The PM said Pakistan looks forward to the proposed visit of Ambassador Al-Aleem to Pakistan to gain first hand knowledge of the atrocities being committed against the Kashmiris in Indian-held Kashmir and for highlighting their cause at international forums. Gilani assured Ihsanoglu of his government’s full support in OIC’s campaign to project the correct image of Islam in the West and urged greater coordination by the Muslim world to dispel the misperceptions about Islamic faith and society in the rest of the world. app
