PTI, MQM ineligible to contest elections yet: Election Commission
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that 123 political parties are eligible to contest the general elections, but this does not include the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) or Muttahaida Quami Movement (MQM).
The MQM has been declared ineligible to contest due to the party’s failure to submit details of assets from 2010. The PTI was declared ineligible over the failure to complete party elections.
Parties which are eligible to contest the elections include PPP, PML-N, PML-Q, PML-F, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, APML and others.
