SMS vote verification service

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Friday launched an SMS service to facilitate the general public in verification of their votes through their cellphones. The eligible voters can send their computerised national identity card (CNIC) number (without hash or space) to 8300, and in response they would receive a text message with their voting details, like CNIC number, electoral area name, block code, tehsil/district and serial number. In order to guide and provide information to those people who are not registered as voters yet, this SMS service will provide contact number(s) of the relevant district election commissioner/registration officer in the reply text message so that they could contact the concerned registration officer to get
