‘Voting right for Pak expats not possible before polls’

ISLAMABAD: Attorney General Irfan Qadir on Monday told the Supreme Court of Pakistan it was not possible before the general election to enable overseas Pakistanis to cast their votes.

He told an SC bench seized with the hearing of a case pertaining to right of vote for overseas Pakistanis that such arrangements could not be made as only in Saudi Arabia 1.5 million Pakistanis were living.

The AG said 400 to 500 polling booths and 2000 ECP workers would be required for the process. Besides, permission from the Saudi government would also be needed for the election activity there.
