Abbas Town: Karachi mourns bombing victims

KARACHI: The national flag flies at half-mast at the Sindh Assembly and other government buildings and routine life remains paralyzed here today as the people mourn the deadly bombing in the Abbas Town neighborhood of Karachi in which 48 citizens were killed and at least 145 injured.

Traffic remained thin while business actives closed in the most parts of the city as almost all the transport, business, trade organizations and some political parties had supported a strike call given by Shia organizations. Fueling stations including petrol pumps and CNG stations were also closed.

The Sindh government has announced a day of mourning over the tragedy, which shocked the nation following the series of bombings in Quetta that left over 200 people dead over the last two months.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has also announced a day of mourning over the Karachi carnage.
