JUI-F’s Maulana Haidri sworn in as Deputy Senate Chairman

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) senior leader Maulana Abdul Ghaffoor Haidri has been elected and sworn in as Deputy Chairman of the Senate.

He begged 74 votes out of total 96 while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Shibli Faraz secured only 16 votes in the election.

Senator Ishaq Dar, who was acting as the Presiding Officer, administered oath to the Deputy Chairman.

Shortly after being sworn in, Mr Haidri assumed the role of acting Senate Chairman as Raza Rabbani, who was earlier today elected as Senate Chairman, has become acting President of Pakistan in the absence of President Mamnoon Hussain.
