SC dismisses Saulat Mirza’s plea against return of second review petition

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court rejected Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist Saulat Mirza’s appeal on Tuesday, against the return of the second review petition.

The court office had returned the petition, filed on January 6 on behalf of Mirza on the grounds that the SC bench had already dismissed the earlier review petition on March 9.

A petition was then submitted, challenging the office's decision to return the petition, however, the court rejected the petition reinforcing the office's objections.

Mirza will be executed on March 19 in Machh Jail in Balochistan for murdering Shahid Hamid, the managing director of the then Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC), his driver Ashraf Brohi and guard Khan Akbar in July 1997.

Mirza’s wife, sister, and son came to meet him for the last time today.

Earlier today, the Sindh High Court (SHC) also rejected the plea of transfer of Mirza to Karachi Central Jail.
