Interim govt, mid-term polls can’t be ruled out, says Musharraf

KARACHI: Former president Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf has stated that mid-term polls and interim government cannot be ruled out and that elections will be held after the incumbent government completes its three years.

Presiding over All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Central Executive Committee (CEC) and Central Working Committee, the retired general announced that, “APML will fully take part in Local Government elections after bringing it at grassroots level.”

“Party is incomplete without reorganization, however, it should be at grassroots point if you want to bring it at country-wide level,” Musharraf said.

Musharraf warned that politics of Pakistan faces major challenge. He said Pakistan progressed during his tenure due to fair distribution of resources.

Commenting on the need of third political power in the country, the former president said, “Pakistan needs third political power.” He greeted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan for making efforts to emerge as 3rd political power.

“Change in government is to be made through change in system,” Musharraf added.
