Pakistan Day fervently celebrated in embassies across world capitals

ISLAMABAD: Flag hoisting ceremonies and receptions were arranged at the respective embassies around the world for celebrating the Pakistan Day.

Abu Dhabi: The 75th National Day of Pakistan was celebrated here with national zeal and fervour at the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador welcomed the community members and recalled the great sacrifices rendered by the forefathers for the independence of the Muslims of South Asia. “Pakistan is both our identity and destiny,” he added. The nation, he said, had witnessed many challenges and measured up to each one with resilience and resolve. In this context, he also mentioned the success of the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in the wake of the latest terrorist attack on the Peshawar school.

Tehran: The Ambassador paid rich tribute to the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of the Pakistan movement. Referring to the challenges being faced by the country, the ambassador reiterated the resolve of the government and the armed forces to uproot terrorism from the country and defeat the evil designs of the enemy. He said the government had embarked upon programmes for the economic development of the country creating investment friendly environment. He expressed the hope that the nation would overcome all challenges through unity and solidarity. He also called upon the Pakistani community to renew their pledge to work for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

France: Speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony in the embassy of Pakistan, Ambassador of Pakistan to France, Ghalib Iqbal, said Pakistan was the home of the most resilient people across the globe. He said that Pakistanis have proved time and again that they cannot be deterred under any circumstances. He said despite being in the grip of all kinds of terrorism, natural calamities from time to time and a huge load of internal and external refugees, its economy is growing, as indicated by international economic monitors, said a press release issued here.

China: Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour at Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing, China. Addressing the participants, Ambassador Khalid recounted the long and arduous struggle for Pakistan, and how the March 23 resolution became a milestone in that struggle. He recalled the efforts and sacrifices for Pakistan of the great leader and father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said the Quaid-e-Azam by dint of hard work and untiring efforts changed the course of history.

He also spoke about how Pakistan-China friendship gained strength over the years soon after independence and became a multi-dimensional, time-tested all-weather partnership. He told the participants that both countries were working hand in hand to pursue the common goals of economic development, well-being of their people, and ensuring peace and security in the region. He urged the Pakistani community to make efforts to realise the dreams and scale the heights the founding fathers of the country had envisioned. The ceremony was attended by participants from different walks of life, including the Pakistani community, embassy staff and their families, and other distinguished guests. Flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held at Pakistan’s consulates in Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Kabul: Pakistan Day was celebrated in the Embassy of Pakistan, Kabul with greater enthusiasm and national fervour. The ceremony started with national anthem and hoisting of Pakistan’s flag by Ambassador Syed Abrar Hussain. Addressing the participants, the ambassador highlighted the historical significance of the day and paid tribute to the founding fathers who had rendered immense sacrifices for achieving a separate homeland. He underscored the need for intensifying bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade, economy, culture and defence. He said that Pakistan had removed several trade impediments so as to facilitate and encourage bilateral trade. Pakistan had also executed various projects in health, education and infrastructure sectors in Afghanistan which would tremendously benefit the Afghan people. Hussain said that Pakistan also planned to construct a motorway from Peshawar to Kabul and a feasibility study bout the project would soon be commissioned. The motorway project would not only improve connectivity between the two neighbours and Central Asian states but would also bring economic prosperity to Afghanistan, he added.

Berlin: A flag hoisting ceremony to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the historic Pakistan Resolution was held at Pakistan Embassy in Berlin. Ambassador Syed Hasan Javed hoisted the national flag with national anthem playing in the background in an impressive ceremony. The ambassador, while congratulating the Pakistani community, urged them to be united and strive for earning a good name for their country. He said that March 23 was not only a day of celebration but also an opportunity to “reiterate our pledge to keep working hard for the attainment of the objectives contained in the Pakistan Resolution”. He said that Pakistanis living in Germany should strengthen and harmonise their relations with the German people as it would further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.

Singapore: National Day of Pakistan was celebrated with due exuberance, national spirit and fervour at Embassy Residence. Addressing the gathering, Tanveer Akhtar Khaskheli, High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore, highlighted current business environment in the country and investment opportunities in Pakistan. The high commissioner also expressed condolence on behalf of the Government of Pakistan on the sad demise of the First Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew. He announced postponement of Pakistan Day reception due to national mourning in Singapore.

Seoul: A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Seoul, South Korea. The ceremony was attended by the officers and staff of the embassy and prominent members of the Pakistani community from different walks of life residing in South Korea. Zahid Nasrullah Khan, Ambassador of Pakistan to the republic of Korea, also addressed the gathering on the occasion and exchanged views with members of the community.

Dubai: Pakistan Day was celebrated on Monday at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai with national zeal and fervour. Consul General of Pakistan Javed Jalil Khattak mentioned the great sacrifices rendered by the forefathers for a separate homeland. Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. The consul general stressed the need to forge unity among the ranks and file of the Pakistani community. He said that the nation had witnessed many challenges and measured up to each one with resilience and resolve.
