75th Pakistan Day celebrated in Vietnam

The 75th anniversary of the National Day of Pakistan was celebrated in Vietnam by the Pakistani mission on March 23 with usual zeal and enthusiasm. The day commenced at the chancery with a flag-hoisting ceremony in which the Pakistan community also participated.

The ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by reading out of messages of president and prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The ambassador addressed the community and highlighted the importance of the day, thus urging them to play a positive role in Vietnam. Light refreshments were served after the ceremony.

The Pakistan Day reception was held in the evening at the Embassy Residence, which was attended by around 300 guests.

The invitees included ambassadors and their spouses from all the missions based in Vietnam, besides officials of the host government, intelligentsia, members of the Pakistani community and media personnel.

The ambassador welcomed the invited audience in Urdu language, which was translated in English and Vietnamese and displayed using a multimedia projector.

He elaborated on the importance of the day and strengthening of democracy under the current leadership. The number of steps taken by the government for an improved economic performance as indicated by various economic indicators was also highlighted.

The efforts being made to enhance bilateral relations between Pakistan and Vietnam, both in the political realm and trade sector were mentioned. In his return speech, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam Le Hoai Trung – the chief guest on the occasion – appreciated Pakistan’s successful economic revival and resilience of Pakistani nation in the fight against terrorism.

He also mentioned the improving trade and its positive implications on both countries. He stressed the need for a high-level political contact at the earliest.

In the morning of March 23, the leading English daily Vietnam News published an article written by the ambassador titled ‘Pakistan – A Central Asia Investment Gateway’ highlighting various economic opportunities available in Pakistan.

Prior to the National Day, the ambassador’s message was also recorded on Vietnam Television, which was broadcasted on the national television in the morning of March 23.
