Balochistan development topmost priority: CM

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said that development of the province is the topmost priority of the provincial government and the right use of funds will be ensured to this end. He expressed these views during the session of the Balochistan Assembly here on Saturday. Commenting on the issue of surrender of development funds, the Balochistan chief minister said that if a department does not make PC-1, Planning and Development (P&D) Department cannot do anything in this regard. He said that if any files were pending with the chief secretary or with him, the provincial government would be responsible for it, adding that if any delays were noticed anywhere, investigations would be made for the same. CM Baloch said that the current additional chief secretary (ACS) is an honest and capable officer who is performing his duties efficiently. He said that still no funds were received from the federal government against the Balochistan government’s demand of Rs15 billion for various development projects in the province, including Rs3 billion for Quetta city and Rs2 billion for Mangi Dam and other small dams in the suburbs of the provincial capital. The chief minister said that Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning and Development and Reform, had said that it was a huge amount and the prime minister would decide on it.
