Nisar, Australian foreign minister discuss security issues

ISLAMABAD – Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop called on Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Wednesday, and held talks on promotion of bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to anti-money laundering measures, blocking of financing of terrorists, elimination of human smuggling and regional situation.

The interior minister in his remarks said Australia was one of the friendly countries which rightly understood efforts of Pakistani government, army and people against militants and situation on the ground. Nisar thanked the Australian government for its cooperation in fight against terrorism and training of Pakistani security forces.

The Australian foreign minister said Australia valued the ongoing struggle of Pakistani government, its people and their sacrifices. Both the leaders expressed determination to expand the ongoing cooperation in areas of security and intelligence.
