Any shortcomings in the NADRA NA-122 report should be pointed out: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Sunday that there is uproar about alleged government pressure on NADRA and refuted that if there are any shortcomings in the report then they should be pointed out.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said that regarding NA-122, NADRA has been able to verify 70,000 votes. He added that 93,000 votes could not be verified as the paper was not used properly by voters, adding it does not mean that the votes were bogus.
Regarding names on the Exit Control List (ECL), Nisar said that in future the names will be put for only one year. He said that no name will be put on ECL on a political basis and rather they will be put on the recommendation of the Court or Investigation Agencies. He added that by now about 7500 Pakistanis are on the ECL.
The Interior Minister went on to say that the government is working on a policy to regulate the use of bullet proof vehicles. He said under the policy only the license holders will be allowed to assemble the bullet proof vehicles.
Talking about arms licenses, Nisar said that the government has imposed a ban on the new licenses but unfortunately three provinces Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan have lifted the ban. He said efforts are underway to take these provinces into confidence for imposing ban on the licenses.
He further said that in future prohibited bore licenses will be issued to only those persons who have number one security threat. He said licenses will also not be issued to those below 25 years of age and that non tax payers will also be not issued licenses.
Nisar added that during the revalidation of arms licenses about 4500 licenses were found fake. He said the revalidation date for the licenses will be December 31 this year.Courtesy www.thenews.com.pk
