‘No-go areas’ no more in Karachi, claims police chief

KARACHI: Karachi police chief AIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo on Saturday claimed that there were no more ‘no-go areas’ left in the city and an across the board operation was being carried out without any discrimination against the criminals.

Speaking at a ceremony held at a private university here, he said significant progress has been made in the murder cases of Karachi University’s Asst Prof Waheedur Rehman and T2F director Sabeen Mahmud.

Thebo said so many evidences have been collected in the ongoing probe, which he added continued.

Distancing himself away from former SSP Malir Rao Anwar’s allegations on a political party, the AIG Sindh said he was unaware of the statement beforehand.

“Rao Anwar holds a high-ranked post and stated whatever he deemed correct,” he added.
