COAS directs FWO to start construction of Torkham-Jalalabad dual carriageway

KABUL: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday directed the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to start construction of the Torkham-Jalalabad dual carriageway.

According to a tweet by DG ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, work on the long suspended project would commence in one week.

The COAS during his visit to Kabul alongside Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also extended full support to Afghan owned and led peace and reconciliation, assuring that all efforts would be made in this regard.

The DG ISPR also quoted the Army chief as saying that Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan would be guided by the principles of strictly adhering to policy of non-interference and not allowing territories to be used against each other.

The COAS also said Afghanistan’s enemies were Pakistan’s enemies and Pakistan’s enemies were Afghanistan’s enemies.
