Tribunal disqualifies PTI MNA, orders repoll on Sahiwal's NA-162
MULTAN: An election tribunal in Multan on Tuesday ordered re-polling on Sahiwal's NA-162 constituency, disqualifying Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan who was elected from the constituency in the 2013 general elections.
Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan had received 88,974 votes from the Sahiwal-III constituency in the 2013 polls.
Independent candidate Haji Mohammad Ayub Khan, who was the runner-up in May 2013 with 75,756 votes, had challenged Rai Hasan's victory in the election tribunal on charges of not declaring assets and concealing facts from the Election Commission.
Haji Ayub had accused that Rai Hasan Nawaz was a defaulter of millions of rupees and had concealed the fact when he was filing his nomination papers.
Rai was the only MNA who won the May 2013 elections from Sahiwal district on a PTI ticket.Courtesy www.thenews.com.pk
