Pak-Kuwait NA speakers for cementing bilateral relations

ISLAMABAD: Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali M Al-Ghanim on Tuesday discussed enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between Pakistan and Kuwait with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in the Parliament House.

Both of them discussed a wide range of issues including current situation in the Islamic world and their problems.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq while welcoming the visiting dignitary and other members of his delegation said that the visit of the Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation would prove a landmark in further strengthening the existing relations and bring both the brotherly countries more closer.

He said that Pakistan gives immense importance to its relations with Kuwait since both the nations are intertwined in eternal bonds of religion, brotherhood and culture.

He said that the bonds of brotherhood could further be cemented through parliamentary interactions. He was confident that during the meetings between the Pak-Kuwaiti parliamentarians both the sides would exchange views, share experiences and explore further possibilities of parliamentary as well as economic cooperation. He said that both the brotherly countries are rich in natural resources which can be exploited through joint ventures for the benefit of both nations.

The National Assembly speaker said that government is determined to exterminate militancy and extremism from the country and all political forces in the parliament are behind this national cause. The government and all its institutions would not allow anyone to subvert its determination, he added.

While discussing the issue of Yemen, he emphasised the need for a peaceful solution to the conflict while expressing his concern on the overthrow of a legitimate government in Yemen. He termed the situation in Yemen as “grave”, and cautioned that the crisis might endanger unity of the Muslim ummah in addition to having implications for the whole region.While appreciating the hospitality, affection and brotherhood shown by Speaker Sadiq, Speaker of Kuwait’s National Assembly Marzouq Ali M Al-Ghanim termed the relations between the two sides as historic and unique.
