Safoora tragedy probe committee seeks Rs10 million reward for ID of attackers

KARACHI: The committee formed to probe the Safoora tragedy met here on Thursday. The committee headed by city police chief Ghullam Qadir Thebo comprises four DIGs and two SSPs.

The committee put forward a recommendation to the Ministry of Interior to offer Rs10 million reward for information leading to the identification of the attackers of the Ismaili community bus.

During the meeting it was also decided to increase the tempo of the targeted operation in Karachi and improve the intelligence system.

A decision to increase security in minority neighbourhoods in the city was also taken.

On Wednesday the Ismaili community in Karachi was attacked when gunmen boarded and opened indiscriminate fire inside a bus. At least 46 innocent people were killed in the attack which took place near Safoora Chowrangi.
