Heatwave hits parts of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan

KARACHI: Most parts of the country on Sunday remained in the grip of scorching heat as temperature rose to over forty with Nawab Shah becoming hottest district of the country where mercury shot up to 47 degrees.

Roads wore deserted look as punishing heatwave hit Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas , Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan ,Bahawalnagar and other parts of Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh.

People in Rahim Yar Khan, where mercury was recorded at 43 degree Celsius, rushed to canals to beat the heat.

According to Met Office, Bahawalnagar, Turbat, Bawahalpur, DG Khan, Multan, Khanpur, and Sukkur sizzled at 42 degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, upper parts of the country including Kashmir, Hazara Division and Gilgit Baltistan have been receiving intermittent rain, where the Met Office forecasts more showers for the next four days.
