Khattak praises China for socio-economic development of Pakistan
*Chinese envoy briefs KP CM on projects being carried out in KP by Chinese companies

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong called on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House on Saturday and discussed with him matters of mutual interest.

A joint communiqué issued after the meeting read that the CM informed the Chinese ambassador about the reforms and legislations introduced to ensure standardised service delivery in a smooth and transparent manner as well as investment opportunities for local and foreign investors with particular reference to viable potential in hydro-power generation, minerals and oil and gas sectors.

Khattak also informed him the problems and difficulties faced by the KP government in the backdrop of war on terror. The CM apprised the ambassador of the improved security and law and order in the province and enabling environment for investment and economic development.

The CM also discussed Pakistan China Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and stressed on equitable distribution of resources for development of backward areas along the corridor. He, however, praised Chinese efforts for socio-economic development of Pakistan.

Khattak assured every possible support and cooperation for the Chinese projects being carried out in KP. He added, “The government and people of China enjoyed advantageous position in our bilateral relations compared to other nations.” He urged the need to initiate Chinese language learning programme in KP in view of the growing cooperation between the two countries.

The envoy briefed the CM about the latest projects being carried out in KP by Chinese companies and said energy production projects form major part of such activities which will generate over 2700 Megawatt electricity after completion.

He also offered Chinese assistance for primary education sector of KP. He also showed interest in interaction with commerce and industries sector of KP and offered Chinese assistance in the field of education, health and technical training etc. Weidong expressed the wish of Chinese government for peace, stability and prosperity of Pakistan for sustainable development.
