Aftab was pressurised to change allegiance: Sattar

KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar Thursday said that Aftab Ahmed, a party worker who was reportedly tortured before his death, was pressurised to change allegiance.

Talking to reporters here, the Muttahida leader said that the deceased MQM activist was forced to change sides. Sattar, however, did not reveal the details.

Talking about the ‘missing’ Muttahida workers, Sattar said, “Hopefully we will be informed about our other 65 missing workers.”

Earlier on Thursday, a post-mortem report revealed that Aftab was tortured while he was in custody of the Sindh Rangers. A four-member medical board carried out post-mortem of Aftab Ahmed in the supervision of Magistrate Kaleemullah Kalhor.

On Wednesday, a counsel for Rangers submitted a report to an anti-terrorism court (ATC), saying that Aftab died due to cardiac arrest. The report said that when Aftab had a heart attack, he was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
