Main culprit in Parveen Rehman’s murder held: police
KARACHI: Police have apprehended the mail accused in the murder of Orangi Pilot Project’s (OPP) director Parveen Rehman in Karachi, police said on Saturday.
Police arrested accused Rahim Swati during an operation in the city’s Manghopir area.
“Swati along with five accomplices had murdered Rehman in 2013,” said Karachi-West SSP.
“Two of the other accused are already in police custody, whereas search for the remaining culprits is underway,” he added.
Director OPP Parveen Rehman was gunned down by unknown armed men in a targeted attack near the Banaras fly-over in March 2013.
Rehman was a vocal activist working against land and water mafia in the city.
