Pakistani humanitarian gets award at Global Donors Forum in Istanbul

ISTANBUL: Pakistani philanthropist and Chairman Taaleem Foundation Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir has been awarded a Global Good Governance Award during Global Donors Forum 2016, an event of World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists.

Ambassador of Malaysia in Turkey Dato' Amran Mohamed Zin presented the Award to Taaleem Foundation head for having developed and arranged global good supremacy practices in encouraging female education in Pakistan, said a press release issued on Friday.

The Global Donors Forum (GDF) held from 25-26 May in Istanbul was co-chaired by Datin Paduka Seri Rismah Mansor, First Lady of Malaysia, and HRH Dr Shaikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al-Thani Qatar.

The Prominent leaders from the government, business, and charitable sectors as well as academicians and researchers talked about critical issues including social finance, impact of philanthropy for SDGs, flexibility and radicalization, diplomacy and strategic communication and philanthropic comeback to refugees’ crisis. Moreover, GDF 2016 forum discussed for setting new priorities and redefining the role of philanthropy, with a focus on the Muslim World in a changing global landscape. Dr Zafar Iqbal Qadir established Taaleem Foundation as a non-profit community support organization in 1989, which is now imparting education in the far-flung areas of Pakistan. Dr Zafar has been a senior professional in public sector with a significant diversity in roles and knowledge from philanthropy to private sector support, corporate sector facilitation and public sector service delivery.
