Speaker Ayaz Sadiq terms talks with Afghan leadership positive

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Monday termed his talks with Afghan leadership positive and said there was desire on part of both Pakistan and Afghanistan to improve their relations.

Briefing the media about his visit to Afghanistan, he said the aim of his tour was reviving contacts between Islamabad and Kabul.

The speaker who led a parliamentary delegation in the visit, said peace, security and prosperity of both the countries were interlinked.

Ayaz Sadiq said high-level exchanges between the two countries would continue in future as well in order to promote better understanding of each other's issues.

He said there was no exchange of "lists" during the visit.

On Sunday, the Pakistani delegation met with Afghan president Ashraf Ghani and urged Afghanistan to avoid blame game and work together to a mutually beneficial future.

The Speaker said Pakistan believed in harnessing good neighbourly relations on equal footing.

He shared with the Afghan President about his proposal of hosting a joint Conference of the Speakers of Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and China with an aim to seek solutions of the regional problems regionally.
