Murad shows displeasure over work on hospitals

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday presided over an emergent meeting in which he reviewed “Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQ) and Taluka Headquarter Hospitals (THQ) and Trauma Centers” project of Rs 16 billion.

He showed his displeasure on the pace of work on different DHQs and THQs and directed the chief secretary to change the project directors. “I want results and completion of work as it was decided earlier” he said and added that the work on some of the THQs, DHQs and trauma centers in the districts was supposed to be completed by end of June and those must be taken on war footings,” he said.

On the pointation of health department, the chief minister directed Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Chairman Ghulam Qadir Thebo to conduct an inquiry and report him. “I have some reports that some of the contractors have not provided hospital equipment despite receiving the payments,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Minister Health Dr Sikandar Mendhro, Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon, Secretary Health Fazal Pechuho, Principal Secretary to CM Sohail Rajput and others.
