PM Nawaz, others strongly denounce Wagah border carnage

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday condemned in strongest terms the suicide attack at Wagah border which killed dozens of people and left scores others injured.

“We will not let the terrorists succeed in their aims to divide and scare the nation which stands united against the twisted ideology of the extremists,” the Premier said in a statement issued here.

He said operation Zarb-e-Azb underway in North Waziristan Agency against the local and foreign terrorists will be carried out until the last terrorist is taken out.

The PM said those who lost their lives in today’s attack have joined the Shaheed soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for defending the country.

Meanwhile, opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain also flayed the suicide attack at Wagah border.

Khursheed Shah said the terrorists will not able to get any kind of success out of such cowardly acts of terrorism.

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain called for spreading the military action against the terrorists across the country.

He said the terrorists will be wiped out from all over the country.

Earlier, an explosion following the parade at the Wagah border left at least 48 dead while over 50 others were injured in the attack.

IG Punjab has confirmed that the explosion was a suicide attack.
