Shah proposes three names for CEC

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and National Assembly Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah met on Thursday to discuss the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

Following the meeting Khursheed Shah expressed hope that a decision regarding the appointment of the CEC will be made in the next few days.

Shah said he would also be meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao to discuss the appointment.

Shah added that the names of Justice (retd) Saeed uz Zaman Siddqui, Justice (retd) Rana Bhagwandas and Justice (retd) Ajmal Mian have been proposed for the post of Chief Election Commissioner.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the government to appoint a new CEC by November 13.
