PM Nawaz says killers of Kasur couple will be brought to justice

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said those responsible for the killing of a Christian couple in Kot Radha Kishan on the outskirts of Kasur would be brought to justice.

The brutal killing of the couple was condemned during the federal cabinet session.

In a separate meeting held under the chair of Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, the killings were discussed in detail. The chief minister stressed that strict action would be taken against those responsible, adding that justice would be provided to the couple’s family at all costs.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasised that tolerance would have to be promoted in society.

The FIR report of the killings states that the couple was attacked by a mob of 600 people. They were dragged to the brick kiln by ten people and thrown into the fire. An anti-terrorism court has placed five suspects in police custody on a four day remand while 38 have been sent to prison.

On November 04 it was reported that an enraged mob beat the Christian couple to death and burnt their bodies in the brick kiln where they worked. A three member committee has been formed by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to investigate the killings.
