PESHAWAR – Qaumi Wattan Party’s (QWP) provincial president MPA Sikandar Hayat Sherpao on Monday termed the fresh demand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan for inclusion of representatives of intelligence agencies in the proposed judicial commission to investigate election rigging allegations are inappropriate and irrational.

Sherpao, the parliamentary leader of his party in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, said that the Supreme Court was the most powerful institution that can summon every Pakistani for help for quick dispensation of justice to litigants.

“I think we should leave this important matter on the Supreme Court,” he said. He said that democracy had returned to Pakistan after sacrifices by democratic forces, people and civil society. “We should work tirelessly to strengthen this system for benefits of masses,” he said, adding the army and intelligence agencies should not be dragged into politics.

“Imran should first build new Pakhtunkhwa and later talked about building new Pakistan,” he said. The inflation and joblessness had increased owing to the ill-conceived policies of the PTI led government, he said. The QWP leader said that PTI leadership has been unable to honour the election pledges for which they were voted to power by people of Pakhtunkhwa.
