President praises humanitarian services of PRCS

ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday praised the humanitarian services being carried by Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in alleviating sufferings of the affected people of natural and man-made disasters in Pakistan.

The president said that increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters has further enhanced the importance and role of the PRCS. He said that this after being briefed on the relief efforts of the PRCS for the displaced persons of North Waziristan Agency in the wake of military operation Zarb-e-Azb and for affected people from recent floods and torrential rains by PRCS Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The president emphasised the importance of the PRCS in sharing the burden of the government by reaching out and mitigating the troubles of the victims of natural calamities. He assured of all possible support in further strengthening the organisation so that it continues to effectively serve humanity during critical times. He stated the government was undertaking all possible measures for providing relief to the displaced persons and flood victims people.

He also reaffirmed commitment for early rehabilitation of affected people and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure. Earlier, the chairman PRCS gave a detailed update on the relief interventions being made by the society in collaboration with other organisations for the displaced persons and affected people of recent flood.
