'PM's visits to attract investment in energy sector'

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid has said that the prime minister's visit to China, Germany and Britain will help attract investment in Pakistan particularly in energy sector.

In an interview with Radio Pakistan, he said that as a result of foreign investment, economic activities would be enhanced, employment opportunities would be created and price hike would come down. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz was visiting foreign countries keeping in view the need of Pakistan.

The minister said that Pakistan was in dire need of cheap electricity. He said that projects worth $ 42 billion were signed during the prime minister’s visit to China, of these projects of 34 billion dollars were in the energy sector. He said that the priority projects were relating to generation of cheap electricity which was coal based.

Pervaiz said that the prime minister during his visit to Germany met businessmen and addressed investment conference there. He said that German investors have assured to do investment in Pakistan. He also said that the prime minister's Britain tour was also aimed at attracting investment to Pakistan.

The information minister said that the prime minister was taking these tours in a simple way with very small delegations. He termed these visits very productive for Pakistan. On political front, he said that the sit-ins politics have caused losses to Pakistan’s economic, political and social structure.

He further said that the sit-ins politics had slowed down the process of development. However, he said people have not accepted sit-ins.
