Pakistan again calls drone attacks counterproductive
INP

NEW YORK – Pakistan has called for an immediate end to US drone strikes on its soil as they are counterproductive in combating terrorism.

Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN Masood Khan told the UN General Assembly that use of armed drones against Pakistan's tribal territory violates international law by infringing Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said that there is no justification for these strikes because Pakistan is pursuing with full vigour the Zarb-e-Azb operation to take out militants and dismantle their networks.

The ambassador said that civilian casualties resulting from drone strikes incite public sentiment and radicalise more people.
