SC disposes of petitions seeking Nawaz's disqualification

ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday dismissed the petitions seeking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk heard the pleas against 14th Constitutional Amendment and the prime minister disqualification. The petitions were filed by Babar Awan, Manzoor Qadir, Lawyers Movement and Maulvi Iqbal Haider in 1997. The chief justice disposed of the petitions, terming them ineffective.
