Pakistan rules out presence of Daish
* FO says Islamabad capable of countering IS threat * One-minute silence to express solidarity with Paris

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Sunday ruled out presence of Daish in Pakistan.

Talking to newsmen here at the Foreign Office on the occasion of annual charity bazaar organised by the Pakistan Foreign Office Women's Association, he said Pakistan had been a victim of terrorism for the last many years.

Daish was a terrorist organisation and Pakistan was capable to face such threats, he said, adding no one in the country would be allowed to have any contact with the outfit.

He said Pakistan had taken a number of steps to curb terrorism and gave sacrifices to defeat the terrorists. The menace was now dying in the country due to effective steps taken by the government, he added.

He said the leadership of Pakistan showed courage, determination and resilience to face the menace of terrorism and emphasised the need for collective and joint efforts at global level in this regard. He said the people and the whole leadership of Pakistan was united and on one page to fight against terrorism,

The Foreign secretary emphasised the need for more cooperation and coordination at the global level to defeat terrorists and their mind set. He said Pakistan has come out of the crisis due to resilience shown by the people of Pakistan and their leadership.

He said through cooperation and unity among the nation, Pakistan had successfully overpowered the menace of terrorism. He especially appreciated the contribution and sacrifices of Pakistan Army for launching a successful operation to curb the menace of terrorism which had suffered a lot to Pakistan. The secretary said the leadership of Pakistan deserved the credit for evolving consensus and unity to fight the terrorists and emphasized the need for better and effective cooperation and coordination at global level to tackle the menace of extremism and terrorism. He said people and government of Pakistan strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris that have resulted in the loss of more than 129 precious lives.

The Foreign secretary said Pakistan stands with the victims of the terrorists attack in their hour of grief and pray for speedy recovery of the injured. One minute silence was also observed before the start of the function here at Foreign Office to express solidarity and sympathies with those who lost their lives in the tragic incidents in Paris. A coordinated assault by gunmen and bombers killed 129 people at locations across Paris that President Francois Hollande said amounted to an act of war against France. In the worst attack, a Paris city hall official said four gunmen systematically slaughtered at least 87 young people at a rock concert at the Bataclan concert hall before anti-terrorist commandos launched an assault on the building.
