Dossiers on Indian role in terror have ‘irrefutable’ evidence: FO
* Spokesman says documents prepared with utmost diligence and care
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office on Friday said that the dossiers given to United States (US) and United Nations (UN) secretary general regarding India’s alleged involvement in terrorism were prepared with utmost diligence and care.
Foreign Office Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah issued a statement mentioning that a section of media, while reporting about the meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs on Thursday, had reported that dossiers on India had no material evidence of Indian involvement in subversive activities in Pakistan. Khalilullah termed the information in that news item as incorrect and clarified that the dossiers contain ‘hard’ and ‘irrefutable’ evidence regarding Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing’s (RAW) involvement in terrorism inside Pakistan.
“The dossiers were prepared with utmost diligence and care,” asserted Foreign Office spokesman. According to a media report, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz told the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs on Thursday that dossiers given to the US and UN secretary general on India’s alleged involvement in terrorism in Pakistan did not contain ‘material evidence’. The committee was reportedly told that the dossiers contained the “pattern and narrative” of Indian involvement and were meticulously prepared, but material evidence cannot be shared for the sake of protecting the sources.
Aziz had first talked about the three dossiers ahead of Pak-India national security advisers meeting, which was later cancelled. His statement led to a media hype that the government after decades of complaining about Indian role in terrorism in the country was finally readying to present credible evidence to the world. Following the cancellation of the bilateral NSA talks, the dossiers were given to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative in the UN, Dr Maleeha Lodhi. The same were also shared by Aziz with US Secretary of State John Kerry during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Washington last month. The dossiers, according to previous official statements, contained proofs about Indian involvement in Balochistan, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and Karachi.
According to earlier reports, the dossiers did not contain ‘material evidence’. Aziz had testified before Senate Foreign Affairs Committee that the dossiers instead contained the “pattern and narrative” of Indian involvement. “The dossiers have been meticulously prepared, but material evidence cannot be shared for the sake of protecting the sources,” he said, adding that the proofs could have only been provided to others in the narrative shape. Aziz had earlier talked about the three dossiers ahead of Pak-India National Security Advisers meeting, which was later cancelled.
