Justice Asif Khosa withdraws from Hudaibiya case

LAHORE: The three-member that was to hear a petition filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to re-open Hudaibiya Papers Mills case broke on Monday as Justice Asif Saeed Khosa excused himself from the bench hearing the plea.

As the hearing proceeded, Justice Khosa observed that the case was wrongly put up by the Registrar Office before him.

“In Panama Papers case, I had ordered to re-open the Hudaibiya case and directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to proceed further in the light of April 20 verdict,” he remarked.

The hearing was then adjourned for an indefinite period however, the NAB prosecutor pleaded to fix a date within a week.

The bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel had been formed on Friday to take up the case on Nov 13.

A new bench will have to be constituted by the chief justice to take up the case.
