Govt improving security, CM informs Olson
US envoy appreciates handling of flood situation

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif met US Ambassador Richard Olson here on Thursday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, flood situation in Punjab and bilateral relations were discussed. The chief minister said that the floods have created havoc in Punjab and the government was now busy in reconstruction and rehabilitation task.

He said that the foreign investors had turned towards Pakistan and the government was working towards improving the security situation. He said that the continuation of democracy would guarantee economic development and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's efforts for economic recovery were providing results.

He stressed that the government was trying to bring radical reforms in the education and health sectors. The US ambassador appreciated the handling of the flood situation and said that the US government was willing to extend assistance if requested.
