LAHORE - Former president and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Jamaat e Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq on Friday reiterated their resolve to end prevailing political crises through joint efforts.

Talking to journalists after a meeting with JI leadership at Mansoorah here, Asif Ali Zardari stressed upon the political parties to come to a common agenda of national construction.

He said that time had come when every political leader should rise above the individual thinking and adopt a collective approach for the sake of stability in the country.

He was of the view that Pakistan could have been saved of being divided into parts in 1971 if political leaders had adopted a reconciliatory policy. Asif Zardari said that no one solely could steer the country towards prosperity and this task would be achieved only through the collective efforts by all the political parties.

He said that the regional and global situations were changing and Pakistani leadership must express sensible approach to avoid any situation which could give opportunity to the enemy of the country to get benefit.

He termed the decision by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to lead the party as good for the healthy political culture adding that Bilawal took this initiative despite the fact that his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and mother Benazir Bhutto had to sacrifice their lives for the democracy in Pakistan.

He said that meetings between JI and PPP would be continued to unite the political parties on a national level agenda for the sake of the welfare of common man.

JI Ameer Sirajul Haq talking to the journalists welcomed the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at party headquarters and said that this visit would promote a new culture in the democratic history of the country.

He said that the prevailing situation demands of all the political stakeholders to create consensus on a common agenda to safeguard the sovereignty and unity of the country.

He was of the view that democracy was a blessing but unfortunately, he added, it was not being fruitful for the common man as needed. He said that only the constitution had united all the provinces and every person was responsible to protect it sincerely.

He appreciated the PPP's support in the process of dialogue by the Political Jirga between the government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek.

JI Ameer assured that he would render services beyond the political interests with the aim to initiate a common agenda of providing education, food, job and honour to the masses.
