LAHORE - Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has asked all political forces to join hands for strengthening democracy and resolving problems facing the country.

He was talking to Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and senior party leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, who called on him in Lahore on Sunday. Zardari said that we believe in politics of reconciliation. He said that an elected prime minister cannot be forced to resign through unconstitutional means. He urged the PML-Q leadership to play their part for strengthening the democratic system rather than the politics of agitation.

Later, talking to journalists outside the Bilawal House, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the PML-Q would celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with the flood affectees and then, would go to the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) sit-in to celebrate Eid with them. To a question, the PML-Q leader said that the current political situation has affected the economy of the country but expressed the optimism that the issues would be resolved soon.
