MIANWALI - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan wanted to usurp power through mobocracy but times for such adventures have passed now.

Talking to journalists during his visit to Mianwali, the minister said that Imran should tell the truth about his resignation from the parliament. He also asked the PTI chief about the current situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The minister said that it seems the PTI chief will again repeat the allegations of rigging in the 2018 general elections. He said that real rigging took place in the Rawalpindi constituency where the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) candidate lost but the party accepted the result in the larger interest of the country.

He said that both Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan created hurdles in the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Pakistan. The information minister, commenting on India's violation of the Line of Control (LoC) ceasefire, said that the government will not allow anyone to harm the country. He added that the country will fight against India on international fronts as well. He said that the government will fully defend and safeguard the nation against any aggression adding that the government will not allow any harm on the respect of the motherland.

The minister said that visible economic progress was witnessed during one year of the present government. The minister said that when the present government took over the dollar was of 112 rupees. "As a result of the steps taken by the government and its economic team, dollar value was brought down to 98 rupees," he added. He said that foreign exchange reserves position was improved considerably. Pervaiz said that terrorism and energy crisis badly affected the economy of the country but the government will overcome the challenge as it did in the past.
