ISLAMABAD – Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday granted exemption to former president Pervez Musharraf from court appearance and summoned him on November 3 in judges’ detention case.

Judge Atiq-ur-Rrehman resumed hearing of the case pertaining to detention of Supreme Court judges during 2007 emergency imposed by Musharraf, wherein his counsel presented an application seeking exemption for his client from today's court appearance. He also submitted a report of the former president's medical board, examined by Agha Khan Hospital doctors which recommends complete bed rest to his client for four weeks.

During the course of hearing, prosecutor Amir Nadeem Tabish raised objections on the report and said that these were the lame excuses of the accused and he was avoiding appearing before the court. He argued that the court should take action against his guarantors if he would not appear in the next date of hearing. To this, counsel for Musharraf informed the judge that his client was expected to come Islamabad on November 1 and a letter has also been written to the Inspector General Police for making security arrangements.

Further hearing of the case was adjourned till November 3.
