Bilawal told to infuse young blood into party

KARACHI: Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari represented Pakistan’s young population. Addressing supporters on Saturday, Gilani said that Bilawal would bring about a revolution in the country. He advised Bilawal to dissolve all old party’s bodies and infuse young blood. The former premier said that PPP was the largest political party of Pakistan. He called upon rival political parties to strengthen parliament, which was a supreme institution. “PTI Chairman Imran Khan is keen to become prime minister. We have already achieved this position,” he said, adding that Bhutto would be the future prime minister. He said PPP was the party that under leadership of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto ensured lasting security for the country through acquisition of atom bomb. “Whereas his daughter Benazir Bhutto managed to restore democracy on strong lines,” he said. He said the PPP governments during its different tenures served the country and its inhabitants in a meaningful manner, be it the nuclear technology or public support schemes Pakistan and Pakistanis in general had always benefited. He said the country exposed to the challenge of “terrorism” need fresh blood and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the chairman of PPP should be supported by all to boldly handle and address for good the difficulty. Separately, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan hailed Bilawal’s entry into active politics and asked PPP workers to help their chairman restore the party’s recognition as a platform for youth and women. He advised the party leaders to take into stock the loss of PPP in the recently held by-polls in Multan, with no complaint of riggings. “We need introspection,” Aitzaz said submitting before the young PPP chairman to infuse fresh and young blood whereby seniors, including himself taking a back seat – who, however, could be approached for consultation if and when needed.
