ATC moot ‘Energy challenges of Pakistan and E&P strategies’ on Nov 25

ISLAMABAD: Annual Technical Conference (ATC) 2014 is scheduled to be held on November 25 with the theme of ‘Energy Challenges of Pakistan and Exploration and Production (E&P) Strategies’ with the aim to provide suggestions and ways to overcome energy shortfall in the country through innovative exploration and production techniques.
Pakistan Association of Petroleum Geoscientists and Society of Petroleum Engineers were organising ATC. It will be the premium event of Pakistan’s E&P sector, service providers and regulators and a forum for presentation of research work from Industry and universities, introduction of innovative technology and an opportunity to discuss prevailing technical issues and problems, academia interaction with industry, investment opportunities and above all a sharing of operational knowledge and experiences.
The chief executive officers and managing directors of E&P sector companies operating in Pakistan attended pre-conference meeting today.
Chairman ATC 2014 Conference Khurshid Minhas said organising team, contributors, sponsors and supporters have firm belief ‘reputation cannot be built on volumes, instead we earn it on quality of the information we share with one another’.
The conference format including presentations from industry professionals and students covering diversified topics of E&P sector will be presented to the audience.
Evolving exploration strategies for growing energy demands like province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where it was thought hydrocarbons may not exist or has migrated, but today its potential is more than expected. Over the years the geoscientists of the energy starved country are doing their best to minimise the gap between demand and supply, but we have added and invented new uses of natural gas thus my readers will certainly agree that “It is not an easy sell and easy burn”.
We should educate our people with aggressive pursuits it takes long time to drill oil and gas wells and exploration and development process requires minimum 10 years and only this realisation with a desire to demonstrate practically prudent use of this natural gift will help to avoid gas shutdown and gas load shedding.
