MQM, PPP MPAs exchange barbs in SA

KARACHI: Lawmakers from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahuida Qaumi Movement (MQM) continued to exchange barbs during the Sindh Assembly session on Monday.

The exchange between the two parties took place when Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon raised the issue of the performance of local body institutions in the assembly. The provincial information minister spoke of terrorists stating that Farooq Dada was the driver for MD Water Board. “You have heard of terrorist Farooq Dada. He was the driver for MD Water Board,” Memon said.

MQM MPA, Khawaja Izharul Hasan replied that if the names of MQM workers killed extra-judicially was taken on the floor of the assembly he would take all their names.

MQM and PPP lawmakers continued to exchange heated barbs during prayers in the assembly. Despite Sindh Assembly Speaker, Agha Siraj Durrani calling for calm, Memon and Hasan continued to exchange heated words until their microphones were shut.
