PM, MQM delegation discuss Karachi projects

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with a delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) comprising Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Rasheed Gondal and Nasreen Jalil here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the MQM delegation stressed on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the completion of development projects in Karachi. The MQM delegation brought incomplete development projects such as the Lyari Expressway, Government Railway, Water and Sewage to the prime minister's notice.
The prime minister formed a committee comprising MQM representatives and federal ministers including Khawaja Saad Rafique, Ahsan Iqbal and Asif Kirmani. The MQM will be represented by Farooq Sattar and other leaders nominated by the party. Prime Minister Sharif has also called for a report on the four development projects.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif advised the MQM to resolve differences with the PPP. The prime minister said that difference of opinion was a part of democracy, adding that disagreements can be resolved through dialogue. Prime Minister Sharif stressed that Pakistan’s constitution allows all democratic forces suitable opportunities for discussions.

The prime minister added that elected representatives should work together for the progress of people and disagreements between parties can be resolved through dialogue.

The MQM assured Prime Minister Sharif that they would consider his advise.

The meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was held in the backdrop of differences between the MQM and PPP over Khursheed Shah’s statement over the word Mohajir.
