PM blames sit-ins for delays in construction of powerhouses

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday blamed sit-ins for delays in the construction of powerhouses in the country.

The prime minister chaired a special federal cabinet meeting where he reviewed the performance of three ministries including Railways, Petroleum and Planning and Development.


Prime Minister Sharif prayed that Allah would offer those holding sit-ins direction as they had only thought of themselves and not the country.

Earlier, the audit report regarding over billing of electricity was presented to Prime Minister Sharif in the cabinet meeting on which the premier expressed his discontentment and termed it a serious matter. He said that the burden on the masses should be addressed properly as the government is responsible to protect peoples’ interest and that the matter should be resolved in any case.

The federal ministers who attended the session also expressed their concern regarding the over billing of electricity.

Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Asif said the ministry is reviewing every detail pertaining to the matter of inflated power bills and said that those who displayed negligence in the matter would also be taken to task.
