ISLAMABAD - Dr Maleeha Lodhi – Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN - has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accurately show-cased Pakistan's point of view in the 70th session of the General Assembly.

Talking to PTV News here on Friday, she said the prime minister presented four-point peace agenda before international community, but the Indian government’s reaction was disappointing. "Pakistan expressed its intentions on a key forum", she added.

She said diplomatic relations between the countries were a process and their progress was issue-based, adding that Pakistan's positive approach towards peace was reflected in the prime minister’s speech. "International community observed that which country wants peace and which country refuses the dialogue proposal on disputed issues," she said.

To a question, Dr Maleeha informed that Prime Minister Sharif attended important events hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping where he aptly described Pakistan's stance on important issues such as South-South Cooperation and gender empowerment.

She said that Nawaz Sharif also co-hosted a peacekeeping summit with US President Barack Obama. She said the prime minister rightly stated in his speech that "South Asia has history of missed opportunities", adding that this resulted in poverty and illiteracy in the region and both Pakistan and India paid the "opportunity cost".
